More than ever in history our world is shaped increasingly by forces far beyond our shores. Day by day, Multinational corporations, nongovernmental organizations, and great cities play ever greater roles. Puerto Rico like any country concerned with the world must now address issues such as the global economy, public health, the environment, energy, education, and global governance, that are, to a great degree, beyond the direct control of nations and world leaders alone.

As we enter the 21st Century and into the cyberspace age, more than ever Puerto Rico must expose itself to the world as a viable area serving emerging Regional trade between two continents. In light of these great challenges the Council is committed to fulfill its mission in the global era, by broaden its agenda beyond the traditional concerns of foreign policy.

We recognized that the Council can best serve Puerto Rico not only by providing a forum in our island in global affairs but also by helping it become a facilitator in the Region for international trade and commerce. Puerto Rico’s future as a first-tier global place to invest, live, and visit depends on its continuous connection to the rest of the world. The support for this organization will ensure Puerto Rico’s exposure to the world as the best place to invest, live, and visit!
